The project brief
Porchlight Project is preparing to document a 3,800-mile bicycle journey from Astoria, Oregon to Portland, Maine. The site needs to explain the idea before departure, make the route explorable, and support stories from small towns as the journey develops.
The work is active and the journey is planned for 2027. This case study describes the product and implementation, not performance results that do not yet exist.

Design and build approach
The visual system uses an editorial tone that leaves room for photography, route information, and future dispatches. The navigation and page hierarchy are designed to work before, during, and after the ride instead of serving only a launch moment.
Interactive features are treated as useful tools rather than decoration. Visitors can explore planned stops, understand progress, and find the nearest point on the route while the publishing system supports new stories over time.
